PUBLIC NOTICE

LOCAL DEVELOPMENT FRAMEWORK -AFFORDABLE HOUSING UPDATE

You may have received a flyer through your door produced by a local person stating that ‘Kingswear Parish Council want to use the land from Westerland Terrace, through to Wilful Murder Bend to build a housing estate’. This may be of concern to you.

I can advise you that this statement is inaccurate, as those who have attended the public and parish meetings concerning the Local Development Framework recommended sites, as put forward by South Hams District Council will be aware.

The recommended site of SHDC which is accessed via Higher Contour Road and Brixham Road was rejected by the majority view of resident attendees of these meetings, as well as the parish council. It was agreed to investigate the suitability of the site at Wilful Murder only for the provision of housing. A full consultation has been conducted by SHDC on their recommended site, which the parish council has responded to incorporating the residential feedback received. In addition, many residents have responded directly to SHDC with their views.

The parish council have made some preliminary enquiries concerning any potential development and the feasibility of the Wilful Murder site. This will be reported at the parish council meeting on Tuesday 14th September in the Sarah Roope Trustees Room, Church Hill. The meeting will commence at 7:30pm. All are most welcome to attend.

Thank you.
